TattooPOP was a solo exhibition of india ink and watercolor paintings by Evie Yapelli. After being taught the traditional 'spitshade' technique by her mentor, where artists wet their brush with their saliva to pull a gradient out of a line of india ink, Evie continued to use that method in her paintings as well. In this exhibit, her love of pop art and the traditional American tattoo style are married together in representations of vintage cartoon characters, advertisements, and other widely-recognizable icons of days past.
